10 months after the 21 July terror attack at Yuen Long Station, netizens called for a sit-in protest at Yuen Long Station, Citiplaza in Quarry Bay and Time Square in Causeway Bay to protest the inadequate law enforcement by the police on that day, the impending passing of the national anthem legislation and to prepare for the general strike on 27 May.
At 6:45 pm, dozens of people gathered in all 4 levels of the atrium of Times Square in Causeway Bay. The protesters chanted “July 21, Don’t See Ppolice”, “Free Hong Kong, Revolution of Our Time” and other slogans and sang “Glory return to Hong Kong”. A yellow umbrella written “D7 689” (implied four letter word to C Y Leung) undaunted by plainclothes police patrolling inside the mall, with at least 5 police vans and uniformed police deployed outside the mall.
