The Murray Hotel beside Cotton Tree Road in Central, formerly the Murray Building of the Government Headquarters, has a “Pink & White Shower” tree. During the flowering season, white and pink flowers are staggered on the tree.
This century-old tree appeared earlier than the Murray Building, which was completed in 1969. In 2017, the building was revitalised to be a hotel, and the tree was retained.
According to the government’s book of ancient and famous trees, this tree has a height of 17 metres, a crown of 14 metres and a trunk diameter of more than 1 metre. It is the only “Pink & White Shower” in the book, making it quite precious. It is rated as a precious or rare species with cultural, historical or important commemorative value.
